Tonight, my 1995 Toyota was brought in the garage and my father began removing the rust off the wings. It therefore means that I'm without a car until Wednesday.

So I get to use mom's Honda for those 2 days. I wonder if I'll get smiles from women at traffic lights like I did while I drove it last summer :D

I demand entertainment :D

I tend to see myself as some kind of lazy person (my sleeping habits, my very basic cooking, my deficient sense of order in my apartment...) but I do realise, from time to time, that I'm not. Depends for what, of course.

But take this very moment for example. I've been on the road over the past 2 weeks, and now nothing. Well, I'm in a sort of panic "What am I gonna do?????". But WTF, I'm in Berlin Thursday so it's not like I won't do anything of my week.

And my dinner sucks, well it's now cold.

Plus I need to change my mind as my stress level increases since tomorrow is Wednesday. The last time, I invited to the second interview on the Friday so this was 5 days after. Tomorrow, it's been five days. So, yeah, I really can't wait to see if there's anything in my email box. Maybe I'd be more calm if people stopped asking me "Did you get news? Did you get news???".... Even at school, everyone is impatient to be drinking the bottle of sparkling wine reserved for big occasions.

I do believe we will, but give a break to my nerves!

Ok, let's eat a bit more and then go to the gym.

Tomorrow is, FINALLY, the first day of French tours for this season. Coincidentially, I received a booking for September 11th - excellent. Now, if someone can please tell my grand-mother how it works - I've given up.

I spoke to my mother yesterday and she decided to call herself the bank (she has a procuration on my Canadian banking because I am absent) and step into the process of claiming my money back. Like I said too, she thinks the bank is hand-in-hand with the scammer by refusing to admit I've been frauded AND she says I'm just being treated unfairly by a sexually-frustrated woman who is mad that I was at a stripclub.

I dunno if that will help but I can't stop her. Besides, damn, my father and her have been with the fucken damn Caisse Desjardins since they were kids - every cent since my birth transited to them. That's more than fidelity, it's arse-licking: mortages, car loans, personal loans, student loans, credit cards, savings accounts, insurance - name it, we got it there!

Ok, let's go sweat the rage at the gym.

Btw, Deutsche Bahn strike starts tomorrow - let's hope S-Bahn won't be disturbed!

Dinner time with people

So this Sunday a part of the people from work went to eat Moroccan food to celebrate the departure of our boss, Daniel, who has been promoted as the manager of Montréal's Lucky Brand Jeans store. A four-course meal, I ate like two people! And the beer was expensive. However, we did try red wine from Morocco and I was a bit surprised, I had never thought they produced wine!

The day was a bit long, though...so it can fit into one bigger text:

Melie came with her friend Hélène at 9:30, Melie had told her I have furnitures to sell due to my eminent and longer-than-last-year Liberation. Fine, the fridge/washing machine/dryer/dinner set out for 850$. Now Delphine wants my futon.

Went to the gym. I'm pissed that I'm the only one to have completed, so far, the challenge of 20 minutes of cardio per day for 10 days (Prize money of 500$). I want that money and those calories must be burned before I return to the city of Hot People (well, Montréal is too but I don't feel much concerned while in Berlin I have to be presentable since it's only away from Canada that I "reconnect with my sexuality and maleness" :p) [not to mention that like everytime I post a shot of me, someone will post that I'm fat]

Gilles came at work to tell us he had voted Sarkozy but was ashamed of it. He's forgiven...at 52.8%, his single vote didn't make THAT much difference! :) Marjorie voted blank.

After work, we didn't all have time to return home before going out so we just hung in the park (forgot the name) where there is a Boer War Monument for the Canadian soldiers who went there.

Ok, you need funny stuff so let's recall the toast...

Mit 22 Jahren und nach dem Bestehen eines Diploms von Politikwissenschaft von der Université du Québec à Montréal hatte ich mich entschiedet, endlich den größten Traum meines Lebens wahr zu machen. Seit ich fünf Jahre alt bin, wollte ich in Berlin wohnen. 1989, als die Mauer fiel, bin ich in dieser durch eine Mauer geteilte Stadt fasziniert geworden und 17 Jahre später bin ich noch in der schönesten Stadt der Welt verliebt. Mehrere Jahre lang habe ich alles, zu mindest alles was ich finden konnte, über Berlin und Deutschland gelesen. Ich habe eine besondere Interesse in der Zeit zwischen 1933 und 1990 ausgebildet und würde gern Forchung über die DDR machen. Auf Grund dieser Zielen habe ich angefangen, ein Jahr vor meinem ersten Aufenhalt, die deutsche Sprache zu lernen.

Vier Monate und 19 Tage dabei haben nichts verandert: ich will, mehr denn je, bis zum Tod in der deutschen Hauptstadt wohnen. Aber ich habe leider ein Problem: ich bin Staatsangehöriger eines so gennanten Dritten Welt Land, Kanada. Vielleicht ist es ein reiches und entwickeltes Land, das vielen Leute träumen machen, aber die Festungen Deutschland und Europa sind seinen Bürgern geschlossen. Für die Einwanderungsbeamten gehörten Kanadier zur selben Kategorie als die Flüchtligen aus Afrika, die illegal nach den Kanarieninseln mit Schiffen fahren. Ich kann nicht diese Situation verstehen. Ich bin verursacht, diese Ungerechtigkeit zu korrigieren.

Ich habe studiert und sprache drei europaichen Sprachen. Ich werde arbeiten und den Sozialstaat mit meinen Steuern finanzieren. Nicht einen Job stehlen. Ich möche Kinder haben, und man weiß, wie viel Familien für die Zukunft Deutschlands notwendig sind. Sie können Ihr Eltern- und Kindergeld aufheben, wenn Sie es « unter euch » aufteilen möchten. Ich plane eine kategoriche und komplette Integration in der deutschen Gesellschaft. Ich bin schon bereit, um Deutschen zu werden. Beim hessichen Einbürgerungstest habe ich 89 guten Antworten auf 100 gehabt. Niemand kann an meiner Zustimmung zu den Grundsätzen der Bundesrepublik zweifeln.

Das neue Zuwanderungsgesetz kann mir helfen, können Sie mir sagen und Sie haben recht, wenn Sie das Buch folgen (ich habe ein Exemplar des Ausländerrechts eingekauft und genau durchgelesen). Das Personal des deutschen Generalkonsulats in Montréal teilt bei den « Arbeitsmessen » der Unversitäten mit einem Kiosk über die professionnellen Möglichkeiten in Deutschland mit. Es sagt uns, kanadischen Staatsbürgern mit Qualifikationen, dass wir in Deutschland immer herzlich willkommen sind. Ja? Dann, was sagen Sie über dem Alptraum meines Besuchs bei der Ausländerbehörde in Berlin. Am 28. September 2006, wenn ich bei meinem Termin gegangen bin, hat mir die Beamtin, Frau Perschke, « informiert », dass ich nicht mehr in Deutschland zu arbeiten einreisen soll, weil es 4 millionen Arbeitslosen im Land gibt. Bitte? Der Arbeitsplatz, der ich gefunden habe, war...französischsprachiger Stadtführer! Bis zum Beweis des Gegenteils muss man Französisch als Muttersprache sprechen und fundierte Kennnisse der Geschichte Berlins und Deutschlands. Bis zum Beweis des Gegenteils habe ich die Beiden!

Nach meinem Besuch habe ich mich gefragt, was passieren können hätte, ob ich dunkelhautiger würde oder ob ich kein Deutsche sprechen könnte. Es ist vieilleicht besser, nicht an diesem Fall zu denken.

Im Gegensatz ihrer Hoffnung werde ich niemals meinen Traum aufgeben. Eine ausländerfeindliche Beamtin kann, und wird, nicht mein Ziel zerstören. Aber sie hat leider etwas zerstört. Mehrere Jahre lang habe ich gearbeitet, um Familie, Freunde und Bekannten zu überzeugen, dass Deutschland nicht mehr in NS-Zeit lebt. Zu viele Leute weltweit glauben noch, dass Deutschland gefährlich für Ausländer ist. Wie oft hat mein Vater mir gesagt « Du liebst Hitler, du möchest bei ihm zu wohnen! ».

Es ist sehr traurig, dass Frau Perschke nicht allein in Deutschland ist. Nach einer Studie der Unversität Bielefeld zeigen rund 60 prozent der Ostdeutschen und rund 46 prozent der Westdeutschen eine ablehnende Haltung gegenüber Menschen aus fremden Ländern (Berliner Morgenpost, 14.12.2006). Ausländerfeindlichkeit ist nicht mehr vertretbar in unserer globalisierten Welt. Als modernes und weltgeöffnetes Land soll Deutschland Einwanderer aufnehmen und gleichzeitig können die Deutschen überall sich niederlassen.

Weil Kanada ein populäres Auswanderungsziel der Deutschen geworden ist, könnte es vielleicht eine Lösung meines Problemes bringen. Es soll möglich sein, mein kanadicher Pass mit einem Hartz IV empfänger aus z. B. Mecklemburg-Vorpommern gegen seinen deutschen Ausweis tauschen. Die Bewegung der Arbeitskräfte soll die Lösung der Arbeitslosigkeit sein. Dieses Grundprinzip der EU muss, zu mindest zu den Ländern wie Kanada, die USA, Australien, Neuseeland, Japan, Südkorea, u.s.w. verbreitert werden.

Wenn die EU ihrer Grenze vor einer Menge « armer » Migranten schließ, denkt sie niemals an den Konsequenzen für die Bürger anderer Länder, oder

Berlin tolerant gegenüber Ausländern

Berlin ist nach einer Studie der Universität Bielefeld die ausländerfreundlichste Stadt in Deutschland. Eine ablehnende Haltung gegenüber Menschen aus fremden Ländern zeigten in der Hauptstadt rund 37 Prozent der Einwohner - das liegt deutlich unter dem Durchschnitt der Ost-Länder (60 Prozent) und dem in Westdeutschland (46 Prozent). Das berichtet "Die Zeit". In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern legen 63,7 Prozent der Einwohner und in Thüringen 61,1 Prozent eine fremdenfeindliche Haltung an den Tag. In Westdeutschland sind mit 54,2 Prozent die Saarländer am ausländerfeindlichsten. Generell sei die Ausländerfeindlichkeit in ländlichen Gebieten ausgeprägter als in den Städten. dpa

In 1984, Iceland was still a tighly-regulated economy. A complete opposite to what Milton Friedman, Pinochet and Thatcher's hero, professed. His thoughts were probably eccentric enough to have the Icelandic television invite him for a debate with three university professors. Ironicly, Iceland still had a state monopoly on broadcasting and only one television channel so this show had a nowadays-impossible-to-reach market share of 100%.

RUV retrieved the show out of its archives and showed it Monday night, 22 years later and a month following Friedman's death. I love old Icelandic tv shows, they're special if we consider the absence of commercial logic in their existence (something also found on DR, NRK, SVT pre-1980 productions) and low-budget feeling that remains present despite the efforts to make it look good.

I hope the four men had a good laugh on how they looked back then!

Seasonal laziness

I think I'm suffering from the lack of lightening (otherwise known as seasonal depression), I'm so lazy these days. Please come back, spring!

The beginning of december is as usual marked with codein syrup ingestion, but coughing is bearable compared to sneezing and throat pain.

Like all December 6th, the day is marked with the anniversary of the massacre at the École Polytechnique in 1989. Tomorrow is La Grande Guignolée des Médias, the food collect before Christmas.

Melie's homework has been delayed til Monday, giving me more time to complete it. Awesome!

I must put on the Christmas decorations during the weekend, it's gonna take only one hour or two.

Electricity is a wonderful invention but we're so dependent on it that we can't do anything once it has gone off. I napped during those three hours, ruining my evening plans which were supermarket and gym - both got cancelled because I had not eaten!

Ice rain, snow, rain, powercuts, car accidents... this is Québec on this Friday evening, December 1st 2006

But tomorrow I have to walk to the metro, stopping by the bank, because I haven't bought my card yet.

The Stupid People Award goes to a driver of the Société de Transport de l'Outaouais who expelled a mother from a bus because her child was crying too loud. I know Québecers are anti-children but this was too far. I'm hoping the case will be brought to the Human Rights Commission! And the populist tabloids will make it a scandal, let's cross fingers!

I'm still undecided as to who should lead the Liberal Party.
